The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a large-scale security operation across communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area following renewed banditry threats.
Police authorities confirmed that massive security personnel, alongside enhanced weaponry, have been deployed to Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri to prevent further attacks and restore public confidence.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, the intervention followed a detailed security assessment after reports of fresh banditry activities in the affected border communities.
The operation involves a coordinated effort between the police, the Nigerian military, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Habib explained that the joint security deployment in Bauchi is already producing positive outcomes, with operatives strategically positioned to suppress criminal elements attempting to infiltrate the area from neighbouring states.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reassured residents that there would be no safe haven for bandits in Alkaleri LGA. He emphasized that security operations would be sustained to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Authorities also addressed concerns in Mansur town, where some residents reportedly fled over fears of possible attacks.
Police clarified that Mansur remains secure and unaffected despite incidents reported in nearby districts.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence on suspicious movements, unfamiliar faces, or unusual activities.
The Command assured the public that all shared information would be handled with strict confidentiality.
