2027 Elections: APC Legislative Aides Declare Support for Tinubu’s Re-Election

Legislative aides of the National Assembly elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The aides pledged to spearhead nationwide voter mobilisation efforts, signalling early political positioning within the ruling party.

The endorsement was announced on Wednesday in Abuja during the inauguration of members of the National Assembly Legislative Aides Network (ANALAG) into the APC Support Groups Council.

APC Legislative Aides Mobilise for 2027 Elections

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the group, Ayoola Fakunle, described legislative aides as a powerful grassroots political structure embedded across federal, state and local government levels.

According to her, their wide representation makes them strategically positioned for PVC-driven voter mobilisation across polling units nationwide.

“We have legislative aides at the National Assembly, State Assembly and local government levels. We are represented in virtually every polling unit across the country,” she said.

Fakunle explained that membership of the group requires proof of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) ownership and verified APC membership, reinforcing their commitment to structured electoral participation.

She added that the objective is clear: to secure a second term for President Tinubu in 2027.

“We are mobilising people with their PVCs. The goal is to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu — a former senator and our principal. He is wearing two caps,” she stated.

The group also vowed to support APC lawmakers and political leaders at state and local levels, expressing confidence in the party’s chances in 2027.

Tinubu Yet to Officially Declare 2027 Ambition
Although President Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election under the APC platform, has not formally declared his intention to run in 2027, support groups within the ruling party have intensified mobilisation activities in anticipation of his re-election bid.

Political observers note that early endorsements and grassroots engagement reflect growing internal consolidation efforts within the APC.

APC Support Groups Council Hails Move
Also addressing the gathering, Sadiq Jikta, Director General of the APC Support Groups Council, described the induction of legislative aides as a significant boost to the party’s 2027 strategy.

He said the development demonstrates the APC’s growing strength, citing recent defections of governors and political figures to the ruling party.

“The inauguration of legislative aides is an added advantage to the APC. We continue to receive new groups daily. It shows we are prepared for 2027,” Jikta said.

He revealed that the next phase would involve structured activities aimed at developing a comprehensive 2027 mobilisation agenda.

“ANALAG has now joined the mobilisation programme. We will collectively develop a 2027 action plan,” he added.

Jikta dismissed claims that the ruling party was under pressure ahead of the next election cycle, insisting that the APC remains confident and transparent in its political engagements.

Early Political Realignments Ahead of 2027
The endorsement underscores the increasing tempo of political activities within the ruling party, even as Nigeria is only midway into the current administration.

With early alignments, grassroots engagement, and support group consolidations already underway, attention is gradually shifting toward what promises to be a highly competitive 2027 presidential election.
