TESCOM Pledges Digital Transformation and Tech Support for Lagos Teachers

The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to equipping educators with digital skills, innovative teaching strategies, and 21st-century pedagogy to enhance classroom learning and student outcomes.

TESCOM Chairman, Victoria Peregrino, told the News Agency of Nigeria that teacher transformation remains central to safeguarding Lagos’ educational future and supporting socio-economic growth.

“At TESCOM, we are deliberately retooling teachers with digital competence, learner-centred methodologies, and innovative pedagogy essential for modern education,” Peregrino said.

The commission has implemented structured capacity-building programs across secondary schools, emphasizing technology integration, competency-based instruction, adaptive teaching models, and continuous professional development.

“Digital learning is no longer optional; it forms the foundation of relevant education in today’s interconnected economy. Teachers are trained in virtual platforms, smart assessment systems, data analytics, and technology-enabled classroom management solutions,” she added.

TESCOM is also promoting a pedagogical shift towards critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, ethical leadership, and resilience, ensuring learners are prepared for disruption and global competitiveness.

Strategic partnerships with private sector leaders and development organizations are strengthening mentorship programs, industry-aligned curriculum innovation, and sustainable teacher upskilling, preparing educators for evolving workforce expectations.
“We are not pursuing reforms for rhetoric but for measurable impact. Investing in teachers today ensures Lagos’ future-ready workforce tomorrow,” Peregrino affirmed.
