National News — Organizers of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, popularly known as the Prosperity Cup, have congratulated Ovieteme George, a reporter with Arise Television, on winning the Best Reporter of the Year award by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria.
Director General of the tournament, Ono Akpe, in a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the Central Organizing Committee (COC), described the award as a reflection of George’s invaluable contributions to projecting the Niger Delta region and Bayelsa State in particular.
The statement further described Ovieteme George as one of Nigeria’s finest journalists, noting that his passion and professionalism have continued to impact Arise Television positively and contribute to national development.
According to the organizers, George’s consistent reporting on the challenges facing the Niger Delta has made Arise Television a delight to watch, while also helping to reawaken social and political consciousness among people of the region.
Mr. Akpe also commended the award recipient for his immense contribution to the growth and development of the Prosperity Cup since the inception of the tournament.
