Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli are reportedly planning a major move for Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, aiming to triple his current wages in a bid to secure his transfer from Trabzonspor.
According to Turkish sports outlet Sabah Spor, Onuachu has become a key target for Al-Ahli as they seek a replacement for Ivan Toney, who is expected to return to European football this summer.
The 31-year-old Onuachu has enjoyed a prolific season in the Turkish Süper Lig, scoring 17 goals and providing one assist in 20 appearances.
His scoring form accounts for nearly half of Trabzonspor’s league goals, helping the club push for European competition qualification next season.
Currently contracted to Trabzonspor until 2028, Onuachu earns approximately €48,000 per week.
Al-Ahli are reportedly willing to offer him a staggering €144,000 per week, representing the most lucrative deal of his career.
This potential transfer highlights the growing trend of top players in their 30s moving to financially rewarding leagues in the Middle East.
For Onuachu, the decision is more than financial—it pits continued top-level European competition against a life-changing salary increase.
Such moves have become increasingly common among established strikers seeking security and new challenges in the final stages of their careers.
Trabzonspor fans may face a tough wait as negotiations unfold, with the club’s key goal scorer at the center of a high-stakes transfer saga.
Al-Ahli’s aggressive approach underscores their ambition to strengthen their squad and dominate the Saudi Pro League.
