National News – A pro-APC group, The Reformed Nigeria (TRN), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-awarding the multi-million-dollar pipeline surveillance contract to David Lyon, winner of the 2019 Bayelsa State governorship election.
Lyon, who is the chairman of Dalong Security Services, was previously awarded the security contract by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to secure pipelines and other oil facilities operated by AGIP before it was withdrawn from him after winning the election.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Yenagoa, Mr. Ebimobowei Titus Leizou, Executive Director of The Reformed Nigeria, commended President Tinubu for re-awarding the contract to Lyon after many years.
Ebimobowei, fondly called Kalasino, described Tinubu as a father with listening ears who understands the yearnings of his children, noting that he is a leader who knows how to reward loyalty, service, and due diligence.
Kalasino also congratulated his boss, Chief David Lyon, chairman of Dalong Security Services, for his patience and commitment to the growth of the All Progressives Congress, despite the turn of events on the eve of his inauguration ceremony on February 13, 2020.
He said that despite the betrayal from some party leaders, Lyon never abandoned the APC but continued promoting peace and unity within the party.
He said, “I want to thank my oga for his faithfulness to the APC and for his commitment to the progress of the administration of President Tinubu.”
“If Tinubu was the president of Nigeria in 2019, the victory of the people of Bayelsa State wouldn’t have been upturned. He would have supported the party to make sure the right thing was done.”
“Even when things happened the way they did, David Lyon was not rewarded. Nobody even considered the fact that he had let go of the pipeline surveillance contract through which he was changing the lives of Southern Ijaw people and the entire Bayelsa State.”
“Because of the governorship race, the contract was removed from his hands, and he didn’t bother because he was interested in serving Bayelsans to give them what they lacked, which was good leadership, and he actually won the election.”
“But when he was betrayed, his contract was given to another person and the mandate given to him by Bayelsans was taken away through the backdoor. Nobody thought it wise to give something to him. They just took everything and left him stranded.”
“However, today we are happy because of President Tinubu. He saw the patience, zeal, and goodwill which David Lyon has for the APC and the federal government, and he has decided to re-award the contract to him.”
“On behalf of the leadership and teaming members of TRN, I want to thank President Bola Tinubu and pray God to bless and protect him.”
“He is a good man, and we are happy to have him as a father and president. I want to assure him that we remain committed to his programmes and policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and we want to tell him that we are solidly behind him.”
“And to my oga, David Lyon, I want to congratulate him again. He is a man who loves Bayelsa State, and all he wants is the good of Bayelsans. God has opened another door for him to continue his good works in the state.”
“He is a patient man, and that is what he has always taught us—to be patient and diligent in everything we do.”
“You see people decamping up and down over little issues. Most people would have turned against the APC when the betrayals started coming from left and right, but he didn’t take it to heart.”
“He stayed, maintained his integrity, and supported the party at every forum, and we are happy because his sacrifices did not go unnoticed,” he added.
