National News – A Lagos-based content creator has raised fresh concerns over the return of long queues at the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) terminal in Elepe, Ikorodu, despite earlier assurances from transport authorities that more buses had been deployed to ease commuter congestion.
The creator, Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, popularly known online as Darkskinned Ella, shared a video showing large crowds waiting for buses early Monday morning.
In the video posted on social media, she questioned why commuters were once again stranded despite the temporary improvement observed days earlier.
According to her, she arrived at the terminal around 6 a.m., but commuters were already waiting in long lines with very few buses available.
By 6:30 a.m., she said the situation had not improved, with only one bus reportedly serving the large crowd of passengers.
Nwachukwu also wondered whether the buses seen on Thursday and Friday were deployed only briefly to address public criticism.
She asked transport authorities why commuters were still facing delays if more buses had already been introduced into the system.
The content creator has been documenting her commuting experience through a social media project titled “100 Days BRT Challenge.”
The initiative aims to highlight the daily struggles faced by Lagos residents who rely on public transportation while balancing work and personal commitments.
She explained that the series reflects the reality of commuting in Lagos, especially for workers with demanding schedules.
According to her, the project shows the stress and unpredictability many commuters experience while trying to get to work on time.
Nwachukwu also recounted a previous incident at a BRT station where she said a staff member confronted her for filming at the terminal.
She alleged that the staff member warned her to stop recording and later attempted to seize her phone, claiming she had been instructed by supervisors.
Transport officials, however, clarified that the issue was related to privacy concerns.
Authorities explained that recording individuals without their consent within transport facilities is discouraged.
Officials also noted that buses operate on scheduled routes, meaning commuters may need to wait for returning buses before boarding.
They added that efforts are ongoing to expand the bus fleet and reduce waiting times along busy corridors like Ikorodu.
