CIBN has commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, for the remarkable economic progress recorded in the state, including a 10 per cent increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), poverty reduction and job creation.The commendation was delivered by the President and Chairman of the CIBN Council, Prof. Pius Olarenwaju, during a courtesy visit by members of the institute to the Governor at the Government House, Umuahia.
Prof. Olarenwaju noted that Abia State has achieved an eight per cent reduction in poverty levels, attracted significant investments and created over 10,000 jobs within a short period, describing the achievements as evidence of effective economic governance.
He also praised improvements in healthcare delivery, education through free schooling policies, road infrastructure and security, particularly the impact of Operation Crush in restoring public confidence and economic activities.
Governor Otti, in his response, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, sustainable development and strategic partnerships, while expressing interest in expanding collaboration with the institute in financial literacy, curriculum development and financial inclusion initiatives.
