ECOWAS Opens 30+ Job Vacancies for Nigerians

National News – The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has begun its 2026 recruitment exercise, offering more than 30 job opportunities to qualified citizens of member states, including applicants from Nigeria.

The positions are spread across several institutions of the regional organisation, with many roles located in Abuja.

The recruitment, announced on Thursday, aims to strengthen ECOWAS programmes and administrative operations across West Africa.

According to the regional bloc, the vacancies cover administrative, legal, financial and programme management roles designed to support policy implementation and institutional development within ECOWAS structures.

Interested candidates are expected to submit applications before the official deadline of April 30, 2026.

The organisation stated that several positions will be based in Abuja, including Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Legal Officer, Political Adviser, Registrar positions, and Head of Division roles such as Library and Documentation as well as Head of Hansard.

Other openings are located outside Nigeria but remain open to eligible applicants from ECOWAS member states.

These include Administrative and Finance Officer in Addis Ababa, Principal Programme Officer for Water Supply and Sanitation in Conakry, and a Sports Policy Programme Officer role in Liberia, alongside additional legal and administrative positions in Dakar, Senegal.

ECOWAS explained that the recruitment exercise follows a structured age requirement depending on the category of each role.

Applicants for General Services or Support positions ranging from G1 to G7 must not exceed 35 years, while those applying for Professional positions from P1 to P7 must be 45 years or younger.

Director-level roles, classified as D1 and D2, require applicants to be 50 years or below.

Candidates are required to complete an official ECOWAS application form, attach a detailed curriculum vitae and submit a motivation letter.

The organisation emphasised that only applications containing all required documents will be considered for screening.

ECOWAS also encouraged women across member states to apply, noting that shortlisted candidates will be contacted after the initial review process.

The regional body warned applicants against fraud, stressing that it does not charge any recruitment fees and does not request personal financial information during the application process.
