Veteran Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the death of her mother, revealing that the heartbreaking loss occurred just hours before her 55th birthday celebration—a fact that was hidden from her at the time.

In an emotional message shared on her Instagram page on Monday, the actress disclosed that her mother passed away on the eve of the birthday party she marked on Thursday, February 5, saying she remained unaware of the tragedy until after the celebration.

“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” Faithia Williams wrote.

The actress paid a touching tribute to her late mother, describing her as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner.”

She added that the reality of her mother’s death has not fully sunk in.

Leaning on her faith during the difficult period, Faithia said the Williams family has chosen to keep the matter private for now while asking for prayers and support from fans and well-wishers.

“Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings at this time. Burial details will be announced later,” she added.

Following the announcement, condolences poured in from Nollywood actors and fans across the entertainment industry.

Actress Aisha Lawal wrote, “Allahu Olóhun a te won si afefe rere. So sorry ma.”

Actor Salami Rotimi commented simply, “Condolences ma.”

Muyiwa Ademola added, “So sorry darling. Please take heart. May her sweet and gentle soul rest in eternal perfect peace.”

Actress Wunmi Toriola also shared her sympathy, writing, “Oh no… Only God can comfort you. I can’t imagine how this will hit you. May God rest her soul.”
