Arsenal F.C. manager Mikel Arteta has sent a strong message to his squad amid the intensifying Premier League title race, warning that anyone unable to cope with the pressure should “be part of a different club.”
The Gunners are currently two points clear at the top of the EPL table as they chase their first league crown in 22 years. Arsenal last won the title under Arsene Wenger during the legendary 2003–04 “Invincibles” season — a campaign that remains one of the greatest in English football history.
However, recent results have shifted momentum. Arsenal have won just two of their last seven league matches, allowing defending champions Manchester City F.C. to cut the gap from five points to two ahead of a crucial North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur F.C..
Criticism mounted after Arsenal squandered a 2-0 lead against Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., conceding a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser. The draw reignited claims that the Gunners may falter under pressure — a narrative Arteta firmly rejected.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the Spaniard dismissed suggestions of weakness, insisting that “noise” and scrutiny are natural when competing for major trophies.
“For years, everyone wanted us back fighting for the title. Now we are there — and now you don’t want noise?” Arteta questioned, emphasizing that pressure is a privilege, not a burden.
Arsenal have finished second in each of the past three campaigns and remain locked in a fierce battle at the summit. With the EPL title race tightening and expectations soaring, Arteta’s message is clear: handling pressure is part of elite football — and only those ready for it belong at Arsenal.
