2027 Election: PDP Stronger Than Any Coalition – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olabode George, has declared that no political coalition in Nigeria can match the strength and national appeal of the PDP ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking at the inauguration of new party executives in Lagos, George described the PDP as a “reborn political party” following its November 2025 national convention in Ibadan.

According to him, the convention marked a turning point that restored public confidence in the party founded in 1998.

George emphasized that the PDP remains a formidable national platform with structures across the North, South, East, and West.

He insisted that the party’s internal democracy—demonstrated through its ward, council, state congresses, and national convention—distinguishes it from the ruling All Progressives Congress.

PDP Rebirth and 2027 Power Shift

Positioning the PDP as Nigeria’s strongest opposition force, George said Nigerians dissatisfied with governance since 2015 are looking toward the 2027 polls for change.

He argued that recent defections would not weaken the PDP, describing it as the only “true national party” capable of reclaiming power at the centre.

He further accused the ruling party of attempting to undermine opposition processes and alleged that electoral institutions were being used to frustrate the PDP’s progress.

Despite these claims, he maintained confidence that voters would resist any irregularities in future elections.

APC Fires Back

Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru, dismissed criticisms from opposition leaders, stating that their concerns stem from lost political advantages rather than national interest.

With political alignments already shifting and campaign narratives forming, the race toward the 2027 general election is gradually taking shape.

As debates over coalitions, defections, and party strength intensify, both major parties are positioning themselves for what promises to be a fiercely contested battle for Nigeria’s leadership.
