Aliko Dangote has issued a public warning to Nigerians about increasing cases of fraudsters impersonating him, members of his family, and executives of Dangote Industries Limited on social media.

In a statement released on Tuesday through its official communication channels, Dangote Industries Limited alerted the public to scams involving fake investment opportunities, employment offers, charity solicitations, and fraudulent business proposals.

According to the company, criminals are using the identities of senior executives and members of the Dangote family to deceive unsuspecting victims.

The company clarified that neither Dangote nor any executive of the organisation directly contacts individuals through social media platforms for financial transactions or business deals.

Fraudsters reportedly use platforms such as WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram to approach potential victims with convincing but false claims.

Dangote Industries Limited also stressed that some members of the Dangote family—including Fatima Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote, and Halima Aliko Dangote—do not operate Facebook or TikTok accounts.

The company warned that any account claiming to represent them on those platforms should be treated as suspicious.

Management further explained that official announcements, investment opportunities, employment information, and corporate communications from Dangote Industries are only released through verified corporate channels and recognised media platforms.

The company urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and avoid responding to unsolicited messages requesting money, personal information, or investment commitments.

Members of the public who receive suspicious communications claiming to represent Dangote or the company are encouraged to ignore such messages and report them to appropriate authorities.

Dangote Industries Limited also confirmed that it is collaborating with security and law enforcement agencies to identify, investigate, and prosecute individuals behind these fraudulent schemes.

By issuing this warning, the company said it aims to protect Nigerians from online scams while safeguarding the reputation and integrity of the Dangote brand.
