Monday Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, has inspected several major road construction projects in the Edo Central Senatorial District, stressing the importance of delivering durable and high-quality infrastructure.
During the inspection tour, the governor visited four key roads currently under construction: the Uromi–Agbor Road, Ukpenu Road, Ujoelen Road, and Illeh Road.
The visit formed part of the state government’s ongoing monitoring efforts to ensure infrastructure projects meet approved specifications and are completed on schedule.
According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the inspection allowed the state leadership to directly evaluate progress on the projects and interact with contractors responsible for executing the works.
Governor Emphasises Quality and Timely Completion
Speaking during the site visits, Governor Okpebholo urged contractors to prioritise quality workmanship and adhere strictly to agreed timelines.
He explained that improved road infrastructure remains a major priority for the state administration because it plays a crucial role in boosting transportation, connecting communities, and strengthening local economic activities.
The governor noted that reliable road networks are essential for easing the movement of residents, farmers, traders, and businesses across the state.
Contractors Provide Progress Updates
Contractors overseeing the road projects briefed the governor and government officials on the current stage of construction.
They also reassured the state government that the projects would be delivered within the scheduled timeframe while maintaining required engineering standards.
Officials accompanying the governor during the inspection assessed construction quality, project timelines, and compliance with government guidelines.
Road Development to Boost Economic Activities
The ongoing road construction projects form part of the broader infrastructure development strategy of the Edo State Government.
