The Federal Government has welcomed the issuance of a Full Business Case (FBC) Compliance Certificate for the National Digital Diplomatic Platform, ASFAAR.NG, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s digital visa reform and migration management system.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, described the approval as a defining step in strengthening Nigeria’s digital diplomacy architecture and enhancing outbound travel security.
The regulatory clearance confirms compliance with the ICRC Establishment Act, 2005, and the National Policy on Public-Private Partnerships.
The ASFAAR.NG platform operates under a Design-Build-Finance-Operate (DBFO) Public-Private Partnership model with GIIL Technology and Marketing Solutions Ltd.
With clearance secured, the Ministry’s Project Approval Board will oversee the execution of the concession agreement under established regulatory guidelines.
Originally developed to address coordination challenges surrounding Hajj and Umrah travel, ASFAAR.NG has evolved into a comprehensive, multi-country digital visa facilitation and travel verification system.
The platform integrates with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and other security agencies to authenticate applicants using biometric and biographic data linked to the National Identification Number (NIN).
Advanced artificial intelligence tools will support risk profiling, detect visa documentation fraud, and flag high-risk applications for inter-agency review before submission to foreign embassies.
A secure diplomatic interface will enable partner missions—especially across the Arab and Gulf regions—to process verified applications with greater transparency and confidence.
According to the minister, the digital visa platform will rebuild diplomatic trust, strengthen bilateral relations, and potentially expand visa quotas for legitimate Nigerian travelers.
Beyond migration control, ASFAAR.NG will provide data-driven insights to support national security coordination, compliance monitoring, and evidence-based policymaking.
The approval positions Nigeria at the forefront of technology-driven visa processing and reinforces the government’s commitment to protecting citizens abroad while modernizing its travel ecosystem.
