Frank Mba, Other DIGs Set for Retirement as Seven AIGs Line Up for Promotion

Deputy Inspector-General Frank Mba and several senior officers are preparing to retire from the Nigeria Police Force following recent leadership changes at the top of the organisation.

The development comes after the exit of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and the appointment of Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police.

Disu was officially sworn in earlier this week as the 23rd indigenous IGP of Nigeria, triggering a major reshuffle within the police hierarchy.

Sources at the Force Headquarters revealed that the outgoing Deputy Inspectors-General had already begun preparing for their departure but were waiting for official confirmation.

According to one senior source, several of the officers have already cleared their offices in anticipation of the transition.

“The DIGs are prepared to leave. Many have already moved their belongings while waiting for the final signal,” the source disclosed.

Seven AIGs Prepare for Promotion to Deputy Inspector-General

As part of the restructuring within the Nigeria Police leadership, seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) are expected to be promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

The officers scheduled for promotion include:

Margreth Ochalla

Kenechukwu Onwuemelie

Ishiaku Mohammed

Zachariah Fera

Zango Ibrahim

Umar Shehu Nadada

Muhammed Abdul Sulaiman

The officers are expected to appear before the Police Service Commission (PSC) in Abuja for promotion examinations and screening, which could clear the way for the retirement of the current DIGs.

Officials say the promotion process will formally restructure the leadership structure of the police following the appointment of the new Inspector-General.
