Michelle Mukoro, widely known as King Mitchy, is alive, contrary to earlier announcements of her death by her management.
The content creator and philanthropist, celebrated for her rapid renovation of a dilapidated school in six days, had been at the center of a heated online controversy.
The controversy escalated after social media personality VeryDarkMan accused King Mitchy of being politically aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
VeryDarkMan claimed her philanthropic projects were allegedly funded by Seyi Tinubu, son of the Nigerian president, igniting widespread debate on social media.
The backlash reportedly led to the temporary loss of King Mitchy’s business Instagram account.
During a live session, a distressed King Mitchy appeared to ingest a hazardous substance, raising concerns among her viewers.
Subsequently, her management initially announced her death at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja.
Prime Care Hospital quickly debunked the claim, stating, “King Mitchy was never admitted to our facility and did not pass away here.”
Following this, her management issued a retraction, confirming she is alive and recovering.
In response to the accusations, Seyi Tinubu released a statement clarifying that his involvement was limited to public support for her NGO, emphasizing that no private or secret arrangements occurred.
He also criticized VeryDarkMan for using the feud to harm his reputation.
King Mitchy’s situation highlights the dangers of misinformation on social media and the pressure faced by public figures amid online scrutiny.
Authorities are reportedly investigating the source of the false death reports, and legal action may follow.
