Popular Nigerian photographer and biker Orowole Kolapoz, widely known as Kola Onifoto, has died following a tragic motorcycle accident in Lagos.
The 32-year-old travel enthusiast and social media influencer reportedly lost his life after being involved in a lone motorcycle crash on Sunday during what he described as his first solo motorcycle trip outside Lagos.
Hours before the accident, Kola shared a post on his Facebook page announcing that he was riding his bike to Akure, Ondo State, marking an exciting milestone in his journey as a biker.
In the post, he celebrated other riders who had travelled across Nigeria and beyond by motorcycle.
“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote.
Shortly after the trip began, reports emerged that the popular Nigerian biker had been involved in a crash.
He was rushed to the Federal Road Safety Corps emergency unit at 7UP, Ojota, before being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba for further treatment.
Friends, followers and supporters flooded social media with prayers and messages of encouragement as news of the accident spread online.
Sadly, Kola succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, March 2, triggering an outpouring of tributes from the Nigerian online community.
Many fans described him as an inspiring storyteller whose travel content and advocacy for adventure riding attracted thousands of followers.
One Facebook user, Georgiana Onyinye, wrote that friends and supporters had hoped for a miracle.
“We prayed, we cried, and hoped to hear better news, but unfortunately, death had other plans. Kola fought so hard. You will be greatly remembered,” she wrote.
Another admirer, Emmanuel Collins, said Kola’s passion for supporting others drew many people to his page.
The exact cause of the Lagos motorcycle crash remains unclear as of the time of reporting. Attempts to reach the spokesperson of the Lagos Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps for official comments were unsuccessful.
Earlier in January, Kola had proudly shared photos celebrating his dream of becoming a biker after acquiring his motorcycle.
His sudden death has left friends, followers and fellow riders mourning the loss of a vibrant member of Nigeria’s travel and biking community.
