Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, has appealed to party members to embrace unity and shun internal rivalries following his re-election.
Ojelabi, who secured a second four-year term at the state congress, emphasized that cohesion and collaboration are essential to sustaining the party’s dominance and strengthening democracy in Lagos State.
In a statement personally signed by him, Ojelabi expressed gratitude to party supporters for renewing their confidence in his leadership.
He noted that internal divisions could weaken the party’s long-standing structure and urged members to make collective sacrifices for the greater good.
“This is the only option left for us to grow our democracy.
I urge you to join me in making the necessary sacrifices for us to make our democracy stronger and better.
Let us be more united and eschew all forms of bitterness, oppression, and rivalry,” he said.
Ojelabi described his re-election as a privilege and thanked Lagosians alongside APC members for their trust.
He acknowledged Bola Tinubu for his guidance, describing him as a stabilizing figure within the progressive fold.
Additionally, he commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governance Advisory Council for defending the integrity of the electoral process.
He further praised party leaders and members across Lagos for ensuring a credible and transparent election, highlighting their dedication as a key factor in giving APC an edge over opposition parties.
“They all stood firmly in defense of the integrity of the exercise from the beginning to the end. I appreciate you all,” Ojelabi added.
The chairman’s call for unity comes at a critical time as political parties prepare for upcoming elections, and his message underscores the importance of collaboration and internal democracy within Lagos APC.
Party cohesion, he insists, is central to sustaining growth and protecting the party’s long-term achievements in the state.
