21 Ships Discharge Petrol, Diesel and Bulk Cargo at Lagos Ports – NPA

Nigerian Ports Authority, Lagos

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has confirmed that 21 ships are currently discharging petroleum products and other essential commodities across major Lagos ports, strengthening Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.

According to the NPA’s latest shipping position report, the vessels are offloading at Apapa Port, Tin Can Island Port, and Lekki Deep Sea Port.

Petrol, Diesel, Aviation Fuel Arrive Lagos

The ships are delivering key petroleum products including petrol (PMS), diesel (AGO), aviation fuel (ATK), and bulk gas.

This development is expected to ease supply pressure and stabilise fuel distribution across Lagos and other parts of the country.

In addition to petroleum cargo, the vessels are also carrying bulk wheat, bulk sugar, soya bean oil, bulk clinker, alkaline materials, fresh fish, general cargo, containers, and cargo trucks.

The mix of imports highlights sustained trade activity at Lagos ports — Nigeria’s busiest maritime hubs.

41 More Ships Expected

The NPA further disclosed that 41 additional ships laden with petroleum products, food items, crude oil, fertiliser, salt, and containerised goods are scheduled to arrive between February 28 and March 7.

This projected inflow signals continued momentum in maritime operations and commodity imports.

Meanwhile, 17 vessels have already arrived and are awaiting berth clearance. These ships are carrying bulk urea, ethanol, diesel, aviation fuel, crude oil, wheat, general cargo, and bulk pallets.

Boost for Nigeria’s Maritime and Energy Sectors

The steady influx of fuel tankers and cargo vessels reinforces Lagos ports’ strategic importance in Nigeria’s energy security and import logistics network.

Increased ship traffic also reflects ongoing commercial activities aimed at supporting manufacturing, agriculture, and transport sectors.

With sustained vessel arrivals and discharge operations, stakeholders anticipate improved fuel availability and smoother distribution nationwide.
