National News – Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun State, has expressed strong confidence that his administration’s achievements and leadership style will earn him a second term in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
The governor made this statement while receiving members of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria at the Government House in Osogbo.
Adeleke said his first-term achievements across key sectors such as the economy, education, agriculture, healthcare, and sports have demonstrated effective governance and accountability.
According to him, his administration has focused on transparency, due process, and equitable distribution of infrastructure projects across communities in Osun State.
The governor emphasized that procurement regulations are strictly followed in executing public projects while maintaining responsible financial management.
He also highlighted his government’s merit-based recruitment of teachers despite economic challenges, noting that the initiative has helped strengthen the state’s education sector.
Speaking further, Adeleke revealed that his re-election campaign would focus on an upgraded five-point development agenda.
The agenda, he explained, prioritizes youth empowerment, women’s welfare, and improved working conditions for civil servants.
It also includes infrastructure expansion aimed at boosting economic activities and improving residents’ quality of life.
Another major focus of the proposed agenda is agro-industrial development, which the governor said would drive job creation, improve food production, and enhance economic growth in Osun State.
Adeleke also pledged to strengthen healthcare delivery, expand access to quality education, and create a safer environment for businesses and investments.
The governor called on the Ansarudeen Society and other stakeholders to pray for peaceful, credible, and transparent elections in the state. According to him, democratic processes must reflect the true will of the people of Osun.
In response, the state secretary of the Islamic group, Hafiz Akande, commended Adeleke’s administration for what he described as remarkable performance in governance.
He also appealed to the governor to support the reconstruction of a mosque in Iwo town that was affected by a road dualisation project.
Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, promising to expand consultation with community groups and continue implementing development strategies that promote sustainable growth across Osun State.
