The Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic in Sokoto has officially conferred the prestigious title of “Queen Mother of the Polytechnic” on Fatima Aliyu, wife of the Sokoto State Governor, in recognition of her outstanding humanitarian contributions and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
Announcing the award through an official statement shared on the First Lady’s social media, the institution highlighted her tireless work in promoting the welfare of women, children, and other underserved members of society across Sokoto State.
The polytechnic praised her extensive initiatives in education, healthcare, and social intervention programs, which have significantly contributed to community development and the well-being of families throughout the state.
The statement emphasized that the First Lady has exemplified leadership, compassion, and service, inspiring students and community members alike.
“In a corresponding tribute, Her Excellency, Dr Fatima Ahmad Aliyu, was formally invested with the distinguished title of ‘Queen Mother of the Polytechnic,’ recognizing her exemplary humanitarian work and unwavering commitment to societal welfare,” the statement read.
The awards were presented on behalf of the polytechnic community by Malama Khaltumi Abdullahi and Mrs. Sumayyah Abubakar Shamaki, celebrating her role in promoting moral values, integrity, and social responsibility among students.
Additionally, the institution conferred an Award of Excellence on Governor Ahmad Aliyu, acknowledging his administration’s support for tertiary education and youth empowerment.
