Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has clarified the reasons behind his recent visit to Bola Tinubu and an agricultural facility in Nasarawa State, stating that both trips were aimed at advancing development initiatives and improving the state’s agricultural sector.

Speaking to journalists after arriving at Victor Attah International Airport, the governor explained that his meeting with President Tinubu was part of a routine engagement between state governors and the nation’s leader.

According to Eno, governors periodically brief the president on developments in their states, discuss challenges, and seek federal support where necessary.

“From time to time, governors meet with the President to brief him on developments in their states and areas where collaboration with the Federal Government may be needed,” he said.

Study Tour to Boost Agriculture

Governor Eno also addressed questions about his visit to the CSS Farm in Nasarawa, describing it as a study tour aimed at strengthening agricultural development in Akwa Ibom.

The visit, he explained, was designed to examine the operations and success strategies of the multi-faceted agricultural facility and determine how similar methods could be adapted to improve the ongoing Ibom Model Farm project.

The governor noted that studying successful agricultural initiatives elsewhere is essential for improving productivity and implementing best practices.

He emphasized that learning from other successful projects allows state officials and agricultural experts to compare strategies, identify effective models, and apply them locally.

“There is really nothing new under the sun,” Eno stated. “Different regions are trying different approaches, so it is important for our team to observe what works elsewhere and see what can be replicated at home.”

Strengthening the ARISE Agenda

The governor said the study tour aligns with his administration’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes agriculture, food security, and economic development.

By studying advanced farming systems and management structures, the Akwa Ibom government hopes to improve the productivity and sustainability of its agricultural programs.

Eno added that insights gained from the visit could help refine the Ibom Model Farm initiative and create new opportunities for farmers, investors, and agribusinesses in the state.

Ultimately, the governor said the goal is to strengthen Akwa Ibom’s agricultural capacity while expanding economic growth and food production across the state.
