Yobe Stakeholders Applaud Tinubu Over NPC Commissioner Appointment

President Bola Tinubu

Yobe State residents, stakeholders, and community leaders have praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing Alhaji Tonga Betara as the new commissioner for the National Population Commission (NPC).

The appointment reflects confidence in Betara’s record of service and the administration’s commitment to merit-based public service.

Betara, who recently retired as Head of Service of the Yobe State Civil Service, is celebrated for his decades of dedicated service.

During his tenure, he was widely credited with creating employment opportunities for numerous young men and women across the state, in line with the vision of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Social activist and writer Mallam Abdulmumini Kolo emphasized that Betara’s leadership facilitated rapid recruitment within the civil service, giving hope to citizens who had struggled with unemployment.

“The recruitment marked a turning point for many families, offering stability and dignity,” Kolo noted.

Bukar Ali, a beneficiary of Betara’s recruitment programs, shared that the initiative transformed lives for families from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“It was not just a job; it was hope for the future,” Ali said, highlighting how employment brought stability to households previously facing hardship.

Community leaders and bureaucrats praised Betara’s balanced approach, combining administrative efficiency with empathy for citizens.

Bala Bukar remarked that the recruitment strengthened ministries, departments, and agencies while serving humanitarian purposes.

Alhaji Modu Gana added, “Public service is about responsibility. Betara’s leadership positively impacted lives and demonstrated compassionate governance.”

Political analysts and youth leaders in Yobe State agree that Betara’s legacy endures through the many young civil servants whose careers began under his guidance.

His recent appointment as NPC Commissioner is seen as an opportunity for him to continue contributing to national development and advancing policies that empower ordinary citizens.

Abdulmumini Kolo concluded, “While careers end, the positive impact of leaders like Betara on citizens’ lives can last generations.”

Yobe stakeholders continue to celebrate his contributions as a model of fair, compassionate, and transformative public service.
