Dauda Lawal has convened an emergency security meeting following renewed bandit attacks across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting lives.
The high-level meeting, held at the Government House in Gusau, brought together heads of security agencies and key stakeholders to review the current security framework and implement stronger countermeasures against criminal elements operating in Zamfara.
Governor Lawal expressed deep sympathy to communities affected by recent violence, particularly victims of the February 19 attack on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area.
The deadly raid reportedly left at least 50 residents dead, with several others injured or abducted.
Renewed Strategy Against Banditry in Zamfara
During the emergency security meeting, the governor directed security chiefs to heighten vigilance, strengthen intelligence gathering, and deploy coordinated operations to neutralise bandits.
He emphasised the need to deny criminal groups freedom of movement and prevent them from gaining further ground.
Security officials were tasked with urgently reassessing operational strategies to ensure more proactive responses to threats across vulnerable communities in Zamfara State.
Support for Victims and Security Personnel
Governor Lawal also commiserated with families of fallen security operatives and civilians affected by the attacks.
He assured continued logistical and operational support for security agencies to enhance their effectiveness in combating banditry.
Survivors of the Dutsin Dan Ajiya attack recounted that gunmen stormed the village with sophisticated weapons, blocking access roads and firing indiscriminately.
Many residents remain missing, raising fears of further abductions.
The emergency meeting underscores the state government’s intensified efforts to curb insecurity in Zamfara, a region that has faced persistent bandit attacks in recent years.
Authorities say coordinated security operations will be strengthened to restore peace and safeguard communities.
