The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to report any Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre charging above the officially approved fees.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board dismissed claims that it had increased the 2026 UTME registration fee.

JAMB described such reports as false, misleading, and unfounded.

Approved 2026 UTME and Direct Entry Fees

JAMB reiterated that the official registration fees remain:

UTME only (without mock): ₦7,200

UTME with mock exam: ₦8,700

Direct Entry (DE): ₦5,700

According to the board, any CBT centre found overcharging candidates or engaging in sharp practices will face strict sanctions.

Candidates who paid more than the approved amount are encouraged to report such centres with credible evidence for investigation and disciplinary action.

Breakdown of JAMB Registration Charges

JAMB provided a detailed fee structure to ensure transparency:

Application Fee – ₦3,500

Reading Text – ₦1,000

CBT Centre Registration Service Charge – ₦700

CBT Centre UTME Service Charge – ₦1,500

Bank Charges – ₦500

Mock-UTME Centre Charge – ₦1,500

The board emphasized that its fees have remained unchanged since 2019, despite rising operational costs.

It recalled that the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction of the UTME application fee from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500 effective from the 2019 exercise.

Registration Deadline and Candidate Advisory

JAMB confirmed that sales of 2026 UTME e-PINs have closed, while registration for candidates who already purchased their e-PINs ends on February 28.

Over 1.5 million candidates had registered nationwide as of mid-February.

Parents and candidates are advised to rely solely on official JAMB announcements and verified platforms to avoid exploitation.
