The Kano State Police Command has decorated 695 newly promoted officers with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), reinforcing efforts to strengthen leadership and operational efficiency within the Force.
The officers, who were elevated from the rank of Inspector, were formally decorated during a ceremony held on Tuesday across various formations and departments. The promotion marks a major career milestone and highlights ongoing reforms aimed at boosting morale and professionalism in policing.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, congratulated the newly promoted ASPs and described their elevation as recognition of their hard work, discipline, and dedication to duty. He urged them to see their new rank as a call to higher responsibility.
Represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Lawal Mani, the commissioner stressed that the promotion goes beyond a reward for past performance.
“Your promotion is not just a reward for past service, but a call to higher duty. As senior police officers, you are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and leadership,” he stated.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, the Command noted that the promotion of 695 ASPs is a morale booster and a strategic move to enhance the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order in Kano State.
The commissioner further charged the officers to be exemplary leaders, uphold accountability, and strengthen public trust while delivering effective security services across the state.
