Kebbi Police Smash Lakurawa Terror Supply Network, Arrest Four Suspects

The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough with the arrest of four suspected collaborators of the Lakurawa terror group and the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and illicit drugs in coordinated intelligence-led operations.

The arrests, carried out across border communities and Bagudo Local Government Area, underscore intensified efforts by security agencies to dismantle terror logistics networks in Kebbi State.

Intelligence-Led Operation Nabs Suspected Lakurawa Collaborators

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, operatives of the Kangiwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested two suspects — Hamza Aliyu and Aliyu Ahmadu — on Friday, February 7, 2026, at about 3:00 pm along a border axis.

The suspects were allegedly involved in supplying logistics and support materials to members of the Lakurawa terrorist group operating in border communities.

Items Recovered:

31 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp

Materials believed to be used in supporting terrorist activities

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to aiding and supplying logistics to Lakurawa operatives active along Nigeria’s border areas.

Special Tactical Team Arrests Two More in Bagudo

In a related security operation, the command’s Special Tactical Team, working in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, arrested two additional suspects identified as Sani Bature, popularly known as “Nage,” and Rabiu Bature in Bagudo LGA.

The operation led to the recovery of:
One AK-49 rifle

611 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition

A locally fabricated, charm-infused bulletproof vest

Police authorities confirmed that all recovered exhibits are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader criminal network.

Kebbi Police Commissioner Reaffirms Crackdown on Terror Networks

Reacting to the successful operation, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadeija, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating terrorism, organised crime, and arms trafficking in the state.

“This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to dismantling all criminal and terrorist networks threatening the peace and security of Kebbi State,” Hadeija stated.

He urged residents to support law enforcement agencies with credible and timely intelligence, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to sustaining security.

“Security is a collective responsibility. We urge members of the public to continue to provide timely information to security agencies,” he added.

Suspects to Face Prosecution

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed that the four suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The latest operation marks a significant step in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts aimed at neutralising the Lakurawa terror network and restoring peace across border communities in Kebbi State.
