The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, alongside the senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Tokunbo Abiru, made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ikorodu, where party members formally endorsed President Tinubu for a second term.
Addressing party faithful, Abiru said the meeting was convened to strengthen internal unity and consolidate support for the President’s second-term bid.
“We have come together to endorse our President ahead of 2027 and to speak with one voice. Ikorodu has always stood with progressive ideals, from the era of Lateef Jakande to the present republic,” Abiru said.
The senator noted that the ongoing APC registration and e-registration exercise had revealed Ikorodu’s political strength and organisational capacity, describing the division as a major pillar of grassroots mobilisation in Lagos.
“From the beginning of the registration to the very last minute, Ikorodu led the pack. This shows we have a strong grassroots base that will be critical in galvanising support for the party and President Tinubu,” he added.
Also speaking, Ojelabi disclosed that Ikorodu emerged as the leading local government area in the APC’s electronic registration exercise across Lagos State.
“Out of the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos, Ikorodu is leading. This is a clear signal that Ikorodu is ready to deliver massive votes for the re-election of President Tinubu,” Ojelabi said.
The Lagos APC chairman stressed that the party was prioritising continuous voter registration, while urging party members to actively promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
“We are not taking anything for granted. Selling the party and showcasing government achievements is a collective responsibility. Unity within the APC is key to consolidating our gains,” he added.
