National News – Senator Ali Ndume has strongly condemned the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, describing the attacks as barbaric and a direct assault on innocent civilians.

The explosions, which occurred around the busy Monday Market area and near the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, left several people dead and over 100 others injured, according to security reports.

The blasts reportedly detonated in the evening, triggering panic across the city as emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, rushed to the affected locations.

Authorities confirmed that the attacks targeted densely populated public areas in what appeared to be a coordinated attempt to inflict mass casualties and spread fear among residents.

Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident while offering condolences to Governor Babagana Zulum, victims’ families, and those currently receiving treatment.

Speaking from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing Umrah, the lawmaker described the situation as heartbreaking and called for prayers, unity, and resilience during this difficult period.

He also commended the swift response of security agencies and urged them to intensify efforts to prevent further attacks.

According to military sources, there are warnings about possible deployment of multiple suicide bombers by suspected Boko Haram elements, raising concerns about heightened security threats in the state.

The senator further advised residents across Maiduguri and other parts of Borno to remain vigilant, especially as the Eid celebrations approach.

He stressed the importance of reporting suspicious activities to security agencies, noting that community cooperation is critical in preventing future tragedies.

Ndume concluded by praying for the repose of the deceased, speedy recovery for the injured, and lasting peace in Borno State and Nigeria, while reiterating the need for sustained security operations to curb insurgency in the region.
