NEOLIFE Job Scam: Three Suspects to Face Trial

By Our Correspondent

National News – The Zone 5 Command of the Nigerian Police in Benin, Edo State, is set to arraign three suspects accused of defrauding job seekers with fake employment offers under the name of US-based wellness company, NEOLIFE.

Authorities also suspended the licence of an independent distributor allegedly linked to the scam. NEOLIFE, which operates in over 50 countries, clarified that it does not hire individuals directly but works with independent distributors.

Investigations revealed that a syndicate lured Nigerians, including students, with promises of high-paying jobs and interviews, only to pressure them into marketing NEOLIFE products.

Victims reported being trapped in interview venues, denied phone access, and coached to sell products under false pretences.

One widow, who sought a relief package, said she was forced to stay in the hall when organisers shifted focus to marketing.

A young woman from Warri, Delta State, claimed she was assaulted during an interview in Benin when she demanded to meet the recruiter.

The police confirmed that some suspects were arrested, while others remain at large. Zone 5 Police Public Relations Officer, Tijani Momoh, stated, “Operatives are on the heels of others involved, and arrests are ongoing.”

NEOLIFE’s Vice President for Field Development, West Africa, Mr. Olusanmi Asalu, emphasised that the company’s investigations are nationwide to apprehend fraudsters using the NEOLIFE brand.

He warned job seekers to be cautious, noting that “we operate through independent distributors; there are no formal employment positions available.

The police and NEOLIFE continue to work together to prevent further fraudulent recruitment. Citizens are advised to report suspicious job offers and verify opportunities with official company channels.
