Nigeria Judo Federation Applauds Tunji Disu’s Appointment as Acting IGP

The Nigeria Judo Federation has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector General of Police, describing the move as a strong endorsement of professionalism, competence, and integrity in national service.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the federation’s president, Musa Oshodi, praised Disu’s elevation, noting that his track record within the Nigeria Police Force and his contributions to sports development reflect exceptional leadership qualities.

Disu, who previously served as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, gained international recognition in 2022 when he won a silver medal at the US Open Judo Championship held in Brookline, Massachusetts.

The competition featured more than 500 veteran athletes from across the globe, further underscoring his dedication to excellence both in law enforcement and athletics.

Oshodi described the appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as reassuring and commendable, emphasizing that placing a seasoned professional at the helm of the police force strengthens public confidence in national security institutions.

According to the federation, Disu’s leadership is expected to enhance operational efficiency, promote discipline, and foster stronger community engagement within the Nigeria Police Force.

The NJF also highlighted the critical role effective policing plays in youth empowerment, social stability, and sports development in Nigeria.

The federation expressed optimism that Disu’s tenure as Acting IGP will usher in reforms that prioritize accountability, professionalism, and citizen-focused policing. It further wished him a successful and impactful term in service to the nation.
