Borno Police Disburse ₦20 Million to Families of Fallen Officers

The Borno State Police Command has disbursed ₦20,137,770.34 to the families of nine officers who died in the line of duty under the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Group Life Insurance Scheme.

The cheque presentation ceremony, aimed at supporting the beneficiaries’ education, healthcare, and general welfare, was confirmed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, on Thursday.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Finance & Administration), DCP Ibrahim Sumaila, delivered the message of Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, stressing that the welfare of officers and their families remains a top priority.

DCP Sumaila said, “The Group Life Insurance Scheme reflects the IGP’s compassion, accountability, and leadership in honouring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for national peace and security.” He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently, describing the scheme as a crucial source of financial stability for the families of fallen heroes.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Modu Ishaku expressed gratitude to the IGP, assuring that the funds would be used wisely for the welfare of their loved ones.

This recent payout follows a similar exercise in January 2026, when the Borno Command disbursed about ₦18.38 million to the families of nine other officers killed in service.

The NPF Group Life Assurance Scheme is part of the Force’s nationwide effort to provide financial support to officers’ dependents, reinforcing institutional commitment to welfare even after officers make the ultimate sacrifice.

By prioritizing the families of fallen officers, the Borno Police demonstrate a strong commitment to the well-being of its personnel and their loved ones, ensuring that the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty does not go unrecognized.
