National News – The Nigerian Army has promoted six Majors to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, recognising their service, competence, and dedication to duty.
The promotion ceremony was held on Thursday at the 81 Division Officers’ Mess in Victoria Island, where senior military officials urged the officers to uphold professionalism in their new roles.
The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Adebayo Babalola, led the decoration ceremony and commended the newly promoted officers for their consistent performance.
According to him, the elevation was based on merit, proven track records, and commitment to national service.
He emphasised that the officers must now take on greater responsibilities with discipline and accountability.
The officers promoted include Lieutenant Colonel A. Sanusi, A.L. Lawal, L.A. Ishaku, B.J. Gimba, M.B. Sifawa, and G.O. Uwagboe.
They currently serve in critical departments such as intelligence, training, administration, and regimental operations within the division, playing key roles in strengthening military effectiveness.
Babalola noted that the promotion reflects the Army’s commitment to rewarding excellence while maintaining high operational standards.
He added that the new rank is not merely ceremonial but a call to enhanced duty, urging the officers to remain focused and committed to safeguarding the nation.
In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of 81 Division, Musa Yahaya, the leadership reiterated the importance of professionalism and loyalty.
The Army further encouraged the officers to redouble their efforts in service to Nigeria, stressing that their advancement comes with higher expectations.
