Nottingham Forest Names Vitor Pereira as Fourth Manager Amid Relegation Fight

Nottingham Forest have appointed Vitor Pereira as their fourth manager of the season, signing the 57-year-old Portuguese coach on an 18-month deal. The club confirmed the move on Sunday following the sacking of Sean Dyche after a 0-0 draw with bottom-placed Wolves.

Pereira, who previously managed Wolves, Porto, Fenerbahce, Corinthians, and Flamengo, is tasked with steering Forest away from the Premier League relegation zone with just 12 games remaining. The Reds currently sit three points above the drop zone.

This season has been turbulent for Forest, who also parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou after a rocky campaign. Dyche’s tenure lasted only 114 days, while Postecoglou’s reign ended after 39 days.

Pereira’s managerial career boasts a successful stint at Porto, where he won back-to-back league titles, and experience in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China, and Brazil. He also previously worked with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Greek club Olympiacos.

The Portuguese coach will make his Forest debut in next week’s Europa League play-off round first leg against Fenerbahce, but his main priority remains preserving Forest’s top-flight status.

Forest showed attacking intent against Wolves with 35 shots on goal, but failed to score, prompting the club to make another managerial change. Fans will hope Pereira can stabilize the team and secure Premier League survival after last season’s highs, which included European qualification under Nuno.
