The National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance (NPSGGG) has unveiled a nationwide prayer campaign ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, positioning faith, unity, and civic responsibility at the centre of its mobilisation strategy.
The inaugural conference, held at the National Centre for Women Development in Abuja, brought together government representatives, party stakeholders, and prominent clerics from both Muslim and Christian communities. The event marked the formal launch of what organisers described as a coordinated spiritual and grassroots effort aimed at promoting peaceful elections and good governance.
In a statement shared with Sunday PUNCH, the Director-General of NPSGGG, Alhaji Abdul-Hakeem Atilade, emphasised the critical role of faith-based engagement in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. He said the initiative would be replicated across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory through state executives, ensuring widespread participation ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to Atilade, the group’s strategy goes beyond prayer sessions. He explained that members will actively engage in voter education and door-to-door sensitisation campaigns to encourage eligible citizens to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and participate fully in the electoral process.
He noted that combining spiritual intercession with civic mobilisation would help foster national unity, political stability, and informed voter participation. The group also expressed its support for the administration of Bola Tinubu, calling on his supporters to back the initiative morally, financially, and strategically.
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, the NPSGGG says its mission is to create a faith-driven platform that promotes peaceful democratic participation, responsible leadership, and sustained national progress across Nigeria.
