NUJ Bayelsa Mourns Death of Veteran Journalist, Isaac Ombe

The Federated Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, is mourning the tragic loss of one of its own, Comrade Isaac Ombe, who died in a horrific road accident on Friday, January 30th, along the Toru-Orua axis of the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road.

Ombe, a former member of the chapel, was a passenger in an 18-seater bus traveling to the burial ceremony of late Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, when the vehicle crashed, claiming 2 lives.

A veteran journalist with impeccable integrity and dedication, Ombe had worked with several reputable media outlets, including The Nation, National Mirror, The Comet, News Express, and The Verbatim.

He also served as an executive member of the Federated Correspondents Chapel before leaving to work with the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA).

The chapel’s chairman, Tife Owolabi, has described Ombe’s death as a devastating loss, saying, “His passion for truth, professionalism, and camaraderie will forever be remembered by all who knew him.”

In a condolence message, Owolabi prayed for the peaceful repose of Ombe’s soul and asked God to grant his family divine comfort, unwavering strength, and the grace to bear this irreparable loss.

The NUJ Bayelsa family and the entire journalism community are in mourning, remembering Ombe’s legacy and contributions to the profession.

As the chapel bids farewell to a dear colleague, their thoughts and prayers are with the Ombe family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
