Ogun ADC Suspends Chairman Femi Soluade Over Alleged Chaos at Jimi Lawal’s Governorship Declaration

The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its State Chairman, Dr Femi Soluade, following a vote of no confidence passed by the State Executive Committee (SEC).

The decision comes amid allegations that Soluade led armed individuals to disrupt the governorship declaration of Jimi Lawal in Abeokuta.

ADC Passes Vote of No Confidence

At a duly convened meeting held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the party’s State Secretariat, the Ogun ADC leadership deliberated on what it described as “numerous allegations” against Soluade.

According to a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olumide Onabajo, the SEC unanimously passed a vote of no confidence in the embattled chairman. The resolution was reportedly endorsed by all Local Government Chairmen present and members of the State Executive Committee.

The party said the collective decision reflected the unified position of its leadership at both state and local government levels.

Alleged Disruption at Abeokuta Event
The controversy stems from an incident on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at The Intercontinental Suite, where a public declaration event was being held for Jimi Lawal’s governorship aspiration.

The SEC alleged that Soluade arrived at the venue accompanied by armed individuals and disrupted what it described as a peaceful political gathering, causing chaos and raising security concerns.

The committee strongly condemned the incident, stating that such conduct — if confirmed after investigation — would amount to a serious breach of party discipline and pose a threat to public peace and safety.

Immediate Suspension and Disciplinary Panel
Invoking provisions of the party constitution, the Ogun ADC announced the immediate suspension of Soluade as State Chairman pending the outcome of investigations.

The party also appointed the Deputy Chairman, Adedeji Abiodun, as Acting State Chairman to oversee party affairs during the suspension period.

In addition, a disciplinary committee has been constituted to conduct a comprehensive probe into:

The alleged disruption at the Abeokuta declaration event

Claims of misconduct and breach of party discipline

Any related actions that may have violated ADC regulations

The panel has been given a 14-day mandate to submit its findings and recommendations to the State Executive Committee.

Soluade Reacts

Reacting to the suspension, Soluade dismissed the action, describing it as insignificant.
“It’s a joke… I will react soon,” he said when contacted for comment.
