National News – Oludare Ogunjobi, newly appointed Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, has pledged strict enforcement of discipline and a zero tolerance stance on extortion within the command.
The announcement was made in Abeokuta during his maiden address to officers and men on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Ogunjobi outlined a comprehensive reform agenda for the FRSC Ogun Sector Command aimed at strengthening road safety management, reducing traffic fatalities, and eliminating corrupt practices such as extortion among personnel.
He emphasized that discipline would be strictly enforced, warning that absenteeism, lateness, improper dressing, and abandonment of duty posts would attract sanctions.
According to him, effective patrol operations would be strengthened through intelligence- and data-driven strategies to ensure visible and impactful presence on Ogun highways.
He also called for collaboration with stakeholders including transport unions, community leaders, government agencies, and the media to improve compliance with road traffic regulations.
The commander noted that the Federal Road Safety Corps’ 2026 strategic goal includes a 10 percent reduction in road crashes, injuries, and fatalities nationwide, urging officers to align with this mandate.
Ogunjobi further assured personnel of improved welfare and motivation, stating that a motivated workforce would enhance productivity and public service delivery.
He reiterated that every officer must treat road users with courtesy, patience, and professionalism, stressing that the FRSC’s reputation depends on public trust and ethical conduct.
He replaced outgoing Sector Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, promising inclusive leadership and accountability across all operational levels.
He reaffirmed that enforcement would be firm but fair to ensure safer roads and restore public confidence in FRSC operations across Ogun State and Nigeria’s road safety system at large.
