National News – The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North, Ogun State, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, has criticized the ridicule directed at House of Representatives member Gboyega Isiaka over his 2027 governorship ambition.

The monarch urged political stakeholders to avoid disparaging Isiaka for his previous unsuccessful campaigns, emphasizing that several prominent leaders faced multiple defeats before achieving their goals.

Akinyemi called for unity among aspirants from Ogun West to advance the region’s political influence.

Oba Akinyemi highlighted Isiaka’s contributions to Ogun State, including his tenure as Group Managing Director of Gateway Holdings Limited under former Governor Gbenga Daniel and his support for indigent students, farmers, and local infrastructure projects in Imeko-Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency.

The monarch argued that past electoral losses should not be used as a benchmark for political competence, citing examples like former President Muhammadu Buhari and U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, who both experienced repeated defeats before eventual success.

Isiaka, popularly known as GNI, contested Ogun State governorship elections in 2011, 2015, and 2019 under different parties but lost to Ibikunle Amosun and later Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Oba Akinyemi stressed that opposition unity could have changed previous election outcomes and called on leaders to respect experienced politicians while embracing new entrants like Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.

He urged Ogun West leaders to focus on collaboration to strengthen the region’s chances in the 2027 election, fostering political cohesion rather than division.

Oba Akinyemi’s statement reflects growing calls for unity and strategic alliances among Ogun State’s political actors ahead of the next governorship election.

By highlighting Isiaka’s resilience and development efforts, the monarch underscores the importance of perseverance, respect, and cooperation in regional politics.
