The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has intensified its crackdown on cultism, arresting three suspected members of the notorious Supreme Eiye Confraternity during a late-night operation in Akure.
The raid, which targeted a known cultism black spot in the Arakale area of Akure metropolis, led to the recovery of weapons and hard drugs.

Confirming the development, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the operation was carried out on February 10 at about 11 pm by operatives of the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad.
According to him, the raid followed credible intelligence reports on cult-related activities in the area, reinforcing the command’s proactive policing strategy to tackle cultism and violent crimes across the state.

During the operation, police arrested three suspects identified as:
Damilola, aka “2Gbaski,” 34
Uthman, 29
Akinwale, age undisclosed
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of:
One axe
One beret cap
One Retevis walkie-talkie
Sachets of tramadol
Substance suspected to be marijuana
An ice bunker
Police authorities said the suspects have made confessional statements, admitting involvement in cult-related activities and other criminal acts within Ondo State.
Ongoing Investigation and Prosecution Plans
The police said investigations are ongoing to uncover other accomplices and recover additional exhibits linked to the group’s activities.
Upon conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to court.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, reiterated the command’s determination to dismantle cult networks and ensure public safety.
He also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for providing strategic leadership and operational support that have strengthened anti-cultism operations in the state.
Police Warn Youths Against Cultism in Ondo State
The police urged young people to shun cultism and other criminal activities, stressing that involvement in such acts leads to severe legal consequences.
Residents were also encouraged to provide credible and actionable intelligence to support ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain peace in Ondo State.
