National News – Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been discharged from hospital after undergoing successful surgery on a fractured right forearm and is now focused on rehabilitation as he targets a quick return to action for Galatasaray S.K..

The 27-year-old sustained the injury during a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Liverpool F.C. at Anfield after colliding mid-air with defender Ibrahima Konaté.

The surgery was carried out last Tuesday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital and lasted about three hours.

Club physician Op. Dr. Yener İnce led the medical team after scans confirmed the fracture in Osimhen’s right arm.

Despite the painful collision during the European tie, the Nigerian forward played until halftime before he was substituted.

Initially expected to leave the hospital a day after surgery, Osimhen reportedly chose to remain longer under medical supervision to speed up recovery.

Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli said the striker requested additional monitoring, telling club officials he wanted to ensure the best possible rehabilitation conditions so he could return to the pitch sooner.

The decision impressed Galatasaray officials, who interpreted it as a sign of commitment from the Super Eagles forward.

Reports indicate that access to his hospital room was restricted, with even family visits limited while he focused on treatment and recovery.

Medical assessments first projected a six-to-eight-week absence, but recent updates suggest the recovery period may shorten to four to six weeks.

Osimhen himself believes he could regain fitness within four weeks, followed by additional time to rebuild match sharpness.

If rehabilitation progresses without complications, the striker may return in time for the heated Istanbul derby against rivals Fenerbahçe S.K. scheduled for April 26.

However, Galatasaray’s medical staff are expected to be cautious and avoid rushing him back too soon.

Before the injury setback, Osimhen had been in excellent form, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

His contributions have been crucial to Galatasaray’s push for the Turkish Süper Lig title, where the club currently leads the table with a four-point advantage.

The striker is expected to wear a protective splint on his arm when he eventually returns to competitive action.
