Tems, Burna Boy Break Record for Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries by African Artists

Nigerian Afrobeats sensations Tems and Burna Boy have etched their names in music history, becoming the African artists with the highest number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100. The achievement sees them surpass South African rock band Seether, marking another major milestone for Afrobeats on the global stage.

The record was sealed following fresh chart debuts from J. Cole’s much-anticipated album The Fall-Off. “Bounce Road Blues,” featuring Tems alongside Future, debuted at No. 34, while “Only You” featuring Burna Boy entered at No. 78. These new entries bring both artists to a total of eight Billboard Hot 100 appearances each — the most ever recorded by African acts.

Tems Leads Billboard Hot 100 Entries in 2026

Tems has now secured three Billboard Hot 100 entries in 2026 alone, making her the African artist with the most chart appearances this year. She previously became the first African female artist to reach seven Hot 100 entries, tying Burna Boy and Seether before surpassing the milestone.

Her growing chart presence underscores the rising global influence of Afrobeats and highlights the increasing recognition of African female artists in mainstream international music markets.

Burna Boy’s Historic Six-Year Streak

Burna Boy has also extended his impressive Billboard record, becoming the first African artist to chart on the Hot 100 for six consecutive years, from 2021 through 2026. His entries over the years include “Loved By You” (2021), “Last Last” (2022), “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” (2023), “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024), “WGFT” (2025), and now “Only You” (2026).

The milestone further cements Burna Boy’s global dominance and reinforces Afrobeats as a powerful force in the U.S. music industry.
