National News – President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, condemning the acts as desperate attempts to spread fear.

The President extended his condolences to families of the deceased and wished a swift recovery for the injured, assuring Nigerians of the federal government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security.

He described the incidents as a sign of mounting pressure on terrorist groups from Nigerian security forces.

Tinubu emphasized that the attacks, which targeted crowded areas in Maiduguri including Monday Market, the Post Office vicinity, and the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, were acts of “evil-minded terrorist groups” aiming to inflict mass casualties.

He praised the bravery of Nigerian troops for repelling coordinated assaults on military positions, highlighting their courage and quick response.

The President also approved additional operational support and equipment for security agencies and directed top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations.

Emergency agencies were mobilized to provide care for victims.

The Nigerian Army warned of potential deployment of multiple suicide bombers in Maiduguri, urging residents to remain vigilant and avoid crowded places.

Borno State Police confirmed the attacks and launched thorough investigations while securing affected areas.

The state continues to call on citizens to report suspicious activities as part of intensified preventive efforts.

President Tinubu assured that terrorists would find no safe haven in Nigeria, stating, “We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.

Nigeria will not succumb to fear.” His remarks underline the government’s resolve to maintain security across the northeast and strengthen efforts against insurgents nationwide.
