National News – Akin Alabi, member of the House of Representatives representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, has intensified early mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
The lawmaker and chairman of the House Committee on Works officially launched the “Friends of Akin Alabi for President Tinubu” initiative in Ibadan, Oyo State, drawing thousands of volunteers and setting up a structured grassroots network.
The Ibadan launch saw 1,340 volunteers actively engaged in the first phase, with over 2,000 registered and a target to expand to 20,000 across local communities.
Alabi emphasized that the initiative is built on a working, community-rooted campaign structure rather than symbolic representation.
He urged volunteers to act as messengers to communicate the administration’s economic reforms and achievements to Nigerians at the grassroots.
Speaking at the event, Tosin Oluwadara, convener of the movement, described it as a people-driven platform open to supporters regardless of political affiliation, with commitment to Alabi’s leadership and belief in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda as the main criteria.
“Real political strength lies at the grassroots — not on paper or social media, but in our communities, in our wards, among our people,” he said.
Community leaders and stakeholders from Egbeda and Ona-Ara LGAs expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election, adding legitimacy to the initiative.
The movement prioritizes sustained grassroots engagement and disciplined outreach, reflecting a growing trend in Nigeria’s electoral politics where early mobilisation and decentralised campaign structures are crucial to success.
With its first phase completed, the initiative signals a broader pre-election strategy within the ruling party, aiming to consolidate support for Tinubu well ahead of the 2027 official campaign season.
