National News – Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his recent state visit to the United Kingdom, describing the trip as timely and strategically important for Nigeria’s global diplomacy.

According to the lawmaker representing Ondo South Senatorial District, the visit came at a crucial period when global alliances are shifting and countries are seeking stronger partnerships to advance economic growth, security cooperation and international influence.

In a statement released in Abuja on Sunday, Ibrahim noted that President Tinubu’s engagement with British monarch King Charles III symbolised the enduring diplomatic and historical ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He explained that the meeting reflects a long-standing relationship that has evolved over decades and continues to shape bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, defence collaboration and cultural exchange.

The senator stressed that Nigeria must remain active in international engagements, particularly with key partners that share historical, economic and strategic interests with the country.

He added that President Tinubu’s diplomatic approach shows Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen partnerships while positioning itself as an influential player in global affairs.

Ibrahim further stated that the president’s actions demonstrate calculated leadership aimed at balancing historical alliances with modern national priorities.

According to him, Nigeria’s engagement with global powers is necessary to promote development, encourage investment and improve security cooperation across regions.

He also pointed out that Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts align with broader global objectives such as peace, sustainable development and international cooperation.

Ibrahim explained that maintaining strong diplomatic ties with countries like the United Kingdom reinforces Nigeria’s reputation as a stabilising force in Africa and a credible voice within the international community.

The lawmaker concluded that the visit should not be viewed merely as a ceremonial state engagement but rather as a strategic step toward strengthening Nigeria’s global standing.

He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the visit would contribute to improved bilateral relations and long-term benefits for Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic interests.

“President Tinubu’s decisions are precise, timely and strategically sound. History will certainly be kind to him,” Ibrahim said.
