Former United States President Donald Trump has officially launched TrumpRx, a new website aimed at helping Americans save money on prescription drugs. The initiative comes as US consumers continue to face some of the highest medicine costs in the world.
Announced at a White House event on Thursday, TrumpRx allows users to buy discounted medications directly from pharmaceutical companies, offering savings on over 40 popular prescription drugs.
“People are going to save a lot of money and be healthy,” Trump said, highlighting that several of the world’s largest drug manufacturers have agreed to lower prices under Most Favored Nation agreements, in exchange for avoiding US tariffs.
The TrumpRx platform makes it easy for consumers to search for prescription medications online, print a coupon, and redeem it at participating pharmacies to purchase drugs at affordable prices.
The White House described the initiative as a populist move to challenge Big Pharma, responding to growing public frustration over the high cost of medicine in the US. Sixteen pharmaceutical companies have reportedly signed on to offer discounted prescription drugs through TrumpRx and government programs like Medicaid.
The site features savings on more than 40 medications, including popular weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, and calls the effort “the most impactful prescription price reset in US history.” The website boldly states, “Thanks to President Trump, the days of Big Pharma price-gouging are over.”
However, healthcare analysts remain cautious. Juliette Cubanski, deputy director for Medicare policy at KFF, told Reuters, “There is a real question about the value of this for people with insurance. In some cases, out-of-pocket costs may still be relatively unaffordable for many Americans.”
TrumpRx reflects President Trump’s personalized approach to policy, focusing on direct deals with companies rather than traditional legislation or regulatory measures. Analysts note that the specifics of the Most Favored Nation agreements remain confidential, leaving many questions about how much consumers will actually save.
Pharmaceutical companies continue to wield significant political influence, with Open Secrets reporting that drug manufacturers spent a record $187 million on lobbying in 2025.
With the launch of TrumpRx, Americans now have a new option to buy prescription drugs online at lower prices, potentially reshaping the conversation around affordable medicine in the USA.
