In a statement issued on Sunday, Turnah praised party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders for delivering what he characterized as a seamless and well-coordinated congress, noting that the exercise has further consolidated the PDP’s hold on Bayelsa’s political landscape.
He reserved special commendation for Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whose influence and leadership he said played a decisive role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the congress.
According to Turnah, Wike’s involvement reflects the depth of commitment among top party figures to sustaining the PDP’s dominance in the South-South region.
The Bayelsa PDP chairman also acknowledged the support of the party’s acting national leadership, including Mohammed Abdulrahman and Samuel Anyanwu, commending their efforts in fostering unity and organizational stability within the party.
Further recognition was extended to Dan Osi Orbih and Mao Ohuabunwa for their strategic roles throughout the congress process, which Turnah said helped ensure a cohesive and credible exercise.
Highlighting the significance of grassroots participation, Turnah applauded delegates and party faithful across the state for their discipline and cooperation, describing their conduct as a testament to the PDP’s enduring structure and loyalty base in Bayelsa.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for maintaining professionalism and order, stressing that their presence enhanced the transparency and credibility of the process.
Turnah emphasized that the successful congress sends a strong political signal ahead of future contests, reaffirming the PDP’s readiness to consolidate its position and expand its influence in the state.
“The outcome of this congress clearly reflects the unity and determination of our party. It positions us strongly for the challenges ahead and reinforces our commitment to delivering for the people,” he stated.
He urged party members to sustain the momentum by remaining loyal to the party’s ideals and working collectively to strengthen its structures at all levels.
The PDP chairman concluded with a call for continued solidarity among members, reiterating the party’s enduring mantra: “Power to the People.”
