National News – Minister of Works, David Umahi, has challenged businesswoman Tracy Ohiri to provide verifiable evidence for her claim that he owes her N280 million for campaign materials.

Umahi directed his legal team to initiate court action against Ohiri following her renewed allegations.

In an unexpected move, he also offered that some associates would pay ₦1 billion if she could substantiate her claims.

Ohiri had previously posted on social media that Umahi owed her money for campaign materials during his tenure as party chairman and accused him of sexual harassment.

After her arrest and legal intervention by her lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, she deleted the posts and issued a public apology.

However, she later resurfaced, claiming coercion to retract her statements and alleging that promised payments were never made.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaz, Umahi stressed that Ohiri has not provided complete logs, communications, or credible evidence to support her allegations.

He clarified that any offer of ₦1 billion was contingent on her meeting these conditions.

The statement emphasized that Barr. Marshall Abubakar acted in good faith, without negotiating any payment from the minister, and that Umahi had remained silent for years despite persistent provocations.

Umahi reaffirmed his focus on delivering results at the Ministry of Works, emphasizing national development, economic growth, and improved connectivity.

He also commended Nigerians for carefully examining the facts and warned against narratives that deliberately misrepresent the truth.

The minister remains committed to transparency, accountability, and advancing the country’s infrastructure agenda, indicating that legal avenues will now determine the outcome of Ohiri’s claims.
