National News – A sociocultural group, Niger Delta Voices for Change (NDVC), has condemned reports linking former militant leader, self-styled General Endurance Amagbein, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as false and the imagination of their authors.
The group was reacting to reports circulated online by some unidentified groups alleging that the former ex-agitator had aligned with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued to journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, the NDVC said Amagbein remains committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, adding that it was baffling that his name continued to feature in anti-Tinubu narratives.
The statement, signed by the Chairman, Chief Preye Timini Anderson, and the Secretary, Comrade Ubong Etim Joel, said Amagbein’s support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 remains unwavering, describing the media attacks against him as a familiar tactic allegedly employed by his detractors over pipeline surveillance contracts.
According to the group, records show that Amagbein, popularly known as “Adaka Boro II,” has consistently campaigned for President Tinubu, even during periods when he was facing what it described as false allegations aimed at silencing him.
The NDVC further alleged that individuals behind the campaign against Amagbein were the same people whose associates had been linked to coup plots against President Tinubu.
The group also accused the same interests of engaging in oil theft under the cover of pipeline surveillance operations and of donating gunboats to security agencies under the guise of corporate support to facilitate illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta.
It claimed that in a region not officially at war or experiencing armed conflict, the donation of gunboats to security agencies by surveillance contractors raises questions and could allegedly be used to move stolen crude oil under the protection of security personnel.
The group further alleged that some surveillance contractors provide luxury houses and vehicles to security operatives in exchange for support in arresting, detaining and intimidating Amagbein’s supporters.
According to the NDVC, it has closely monitored recent developments and believes that those allegedly responsible for Amagbein’s previous ordeals have intensified efforts to sabotage pipelines through their associates in an attempt to implicate him in fresh controversies and justify what it described as the unlawful arrest and detention of innocent citizens.
Despite these developments, the group maintained that the attacks would not weaken Amagbein’s commitment to President Tinubu’s administration.
“We know for sure that these constant efforts by naysayers will not silence Amagbein’s devotion to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
“Amagbein has passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and pledged to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda now and always.
“This is because the administration of President Tinubu has provided more opportunities for the people of the Niger Delta than previous administrations put together.
“We therefore call on those behind these senseless media attacks to desist. Amagbein is a philanthropist and a peace-loving man who has contributed immensely to peace and stability in the Niger Delta. He has also worked tirelessly to promote the APC and the programmes and policies of the Tinubu-led administration.
“We also commend the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the service chiefs and the Minister of Defence for their efforts in promoting peace and security in the Niger Delta.
“However, we urge them to order a discreet investigation into these allegations,” the statement added.
